Air pollution is currently a very important subject, with the highest levels being encountered during wintertime anticyclonic regimes. This is all the more true in mountaineous regions, where the atmospheric circulation in valleys is decoupled from the large scale (synoptic) circulation above. As a striking example, the Passy valley is one of the most polluted regions in région Rhône-Alpes. A
field campaign took place last winter in this valley to determine the atmospheric circulation in this valley and the link with pollution. One aim of my internship is to analyze the temperature profiles from a tethered balloon.
In this talk, I shall discuss the methods of analysis of these data and infer preliminary knowledge about the ground based inversion.
