Powder snow avalanches

(M. Rastello)

In collaboration with IRSTEA Grenoble (F. Naaim) and the State University of Colorado (K. Venayagamoorthy) we study gravity flushing on a steep slope. The experimental part of the study is conducted on the Grenoblois site. The main application area is that of powder snow avalanches.

Pente : 45°.

This is a self-control of the interactive work. The motivation is twofold:
- understand the physical mechanisms involved in the interaction and their repercussions on the overall dynamics of the flow
reconsider the geometry of avalanche protection devices for the protection of goods and people more efficient.

Pente: 13°
