Gravity Waves : internal waves & waves in the nearshore

The MEIGE team is working on physical processes associated with gravity waves occuring at the water surface in the nearshore or in the ocean or the atmosphere at density interface, the so-called internal waves.

The research carried out in the team focuses on the emission of internal waves by the barotropic tide (also called internal tide) and on the interactions of internal waves with a topography or a thermocline.

Concerning the topic on waves in the nearshore, the research carried out in the team focuses on the study of the coupling between wave propagation and bathymetry in coastal areas (bathymetric breaking and morphological evolution) as well as on the modeling of fluid-structure interactions related to the presence of coastal structures or plants/algae.
